SERVICES PROVIDED BY DOUBLE-HUNG WINDOW RESTORATION
On-site restoration of your double-hung windows.
I specialize in restoration of the original, single pane windows that have rope and pulleys and (are supposed to) slide up and down. |
My box van functions as a mobile workshop. Most of the time your windows don't go any farther than the truck. Even if a window is not fully restored by the end of the work day, it typically will be back in place overnight.

Basic Services Address
|
Double-hung windows have cast iron counter weights on either side inside the wall (the pocket). Often an access door (pocket cover) is available in the jamb (vertical part of frame) to access the counter weight. If the pocket cover is not present, I make one (for instructions see HERE). That way there is no damage to your trim and walls. |
Additional Services
In addition I can coordinate manufacture of frames and sashes, repair of existing leaded panels, fabrication of new leaded panels, and do the installation. |
The center leaded panel in the picture is original. The outer panels were designed and fabricated by James McKeown Leaded Glass to match the center. These new panels were installed by Double-hung Window Restoration.

SERVICES NOT PROVIDED BY DOUBLE-HUNG WINDOW RESTORATION
I DO NOT
Replace fogged-up glass The seals of Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) tend to fail, resulting in fogged-up windows. The only remedy is to replace the IGU. Please check under "Resources" for local glass companies that can assist you with this better and faster than I can. |
Most Insulated Glass Units sold to the residential market have a 10-year warranty. One year on glass and labor, and an additional 9 years on the (cheaper) glass.
Long before you have recovered the cost of replacement windows with savings in energy use, the units' warranty will have expired and you may be facing additional costs to replace the fogged-up glass. |
